Shared inventory, visible to everyone.
A Public Hive is a BinKeeper bin that anyone can view by scanning its QR code — no account, no download required. The contents, photos, and check-in/out status are all visible. Only authorized members can make changes. You manage the bin; your community just needs to see what's inside.
Locked bin, open contents
Your physical storage stays exactly as secure as you make it. The QR code only shares what's inside — not access to the space itself. Public views are read-only.
No account needed to view
Anyone with a phone camera can scan and see the contents. Parents, players, volunteers, or neighbors — they don't need BinKeeper installed to check the inventory.
Live check-in / check-out status
When a team member checks out an item, the public view updates immediately. Everyone can see what's in, what's out, and who has it — no group texts required.
Print it, post it, share it
Stick the QR code on the equipment shed, the storage closet door, the pantry shelf. Hang a printed sign that says "Scan to see what's inside." No maintenance — it stays current automatically.
Where Public Hives live
Any place where stuff belongs to a group and multiple people need visibility — without giving everyone admin access.
Youth Sports Teams
Coaches, parents, and players all know what's in the gear bag and who checked out the cones before Saturday's game.
Churches & Faith Communities
Nursery supplies, AV equipment, event tables and chairs — volunteers can check inventory without tracking down a key holder.
Little Free Libraries
Let neighbors see what books are available before walking over. A QR code on the door tells the whole story.
Game Night & Poker Crews
The poker chips live at someone's house. The whole group can see what's in the box before deciding who hosts.
Scout Troops & Clubs
Camping gear, craft supplies, merit badge materials — organized in bins the troop can check before any meeting or outing.
Community Pantries & Seed Libraries
Show what's available this week without anyone having to be on-site to answer questions. The QR code does the talking.
Vacation Homes & Airbnbs
Put a QR code on the storage closet. Guests scan to see what linens, beach gear, or kitchen supplies are already there.
HOAs & Neighborhood Tool Shares
The neighborhood has a pressure washer and a ladder. A Public Hive shows who has it and when it was last returned.
How it works
Setting up a Public Hive takes about 30 seconds.
Create a bin in BinKeeper
Add a name, description, and photo for your bin. Log everything inside — manually or with a quick photo entry. A unique QR code is generated automatically.
Toggle it to Public
One switch in the bin settings makes it a Public Hive. The contents become viewable by anyone with a phone — no account or app required to browse.
Post or share the QR code
Print it and tape it to the bin, the shed door, or a sign by the pantry. Or share the link directly with your group. The QR code is permanent — you never have to reprint it when contents change.
Anyone scans, anyone sees
Scan the QR code with any phone camera — no app install required. The public view shows the current contents, photos, and real-time check-in/out status. Only authorized members can make edits.
